Nova's Story
Hi, I'm Nova, a brave and bold girl with a heart as golden as a summer sunset. I'm an adventurous soul who loves nothing more than exploring the great unknown and protecting my loved ones from the dangers that lurk (or at least that's what I imagine I'm doing when I'm out sniffing around). With an independent streak, I'm always up for trying new things and going on exciting journeys. But don't let my fearless attitude fool you, I'm a real softie at heart. I'm affectionate and loving, and I'll be your loyal companion through thick and thin. With my athletic build, I can keep up with the best of them on all our fun excursions. I might even be up for some dog sports! I'm a true hero in the making, ready to face the world head-on and bring laughter and joy to my new family. So, if you're looking for a playful and protective pal to join your crew, look no further. I'm here, ready to take on the world with you by my side!

Nova had such a rough start. She was used to breed and found herself at a county shelter twice within the span of a few months, the second visit to the shelter she showed up with wounds and obvious neglect. One of the shelter staff fell in love with her spirit and the way she trusted and loved the staff even though humans hadn't always been kind to her. The staff member advocated through volunteers and got her pulled by a rescue that saw how special Nova was. Nova was fostered for six months as an only dog and just wasn't thriving in an only dog environment. She even had the rescue fooled into thinking she was dog aggressive due to her loud excitement when seeing other dogs from afar.

Pearl's place agreed to take her in and help her work through this dog aggression. Little did we all know that Nova was fooling everyone. She LOVES other dogs. She has really thrived having friends to play with and gets along with every single dog we've introduced her to... her besties have become Athena (our staffy female) and Tucker (a sanctuary dog who is deaf and doesn't get along with everyone due to his not being able to hear).

Nova does have one little issue we're trying to help her with... she's a traveler. She likes to jump fences as though she's a pro pole vaulter and find other dogs or people to visit with. She just doesn't like being alone. She does fine with supervision and is learning that she doesn't need to search out other dogs and people as she has plenty here at Pearl's. However, we do feel she'd do best in a home with another dog. She really needs a friend to share her life with.

If you're interested in meeting Nova (or even Nova and Athena together) please reach out to us!
