Nova's Story
Nova

5 Years Old German Shepherd Dog Friendly Kid Friendly

Nova's story is one we will never forget.

On November 14, 2023, we rescued Nova from a freeway median after receiving reports that she had been lying there for over a week. People believed she was dead. CHP and Animal Control had been called multiple times, but no one had been able to help her.

When we saw the post, we immediately contacted CHP and begged them to stop traffic long enough for us to try. We were told she was deceased. Then, at the last moment, she lifted her head.

Nova was alive.

Starving, terrified, and barely hanging on, she had been surviving in the freeway median after being hit by a car. When we finally reached her, she used every bit of strength she had left to try to escape. Exhausted and frightened, she urinated and defecated on herself during the rescue.

Once safe, we discovered just how much she had endured. Nova was severely underweight and suffering from Anaplasmosis, Giardia, and Coccidia. She had also sustained small fractures to her pelvis and femur from being struck by a vehicle.

Despite everything she had been through, Nova never gave up.

Today Nova is healthy, healed, and ready for her forever family.

Nova is an incredibly smart girl who already knows how to sit and shake. She loves children, enjoys being around other dogs, and has a fun, talkative personality that keeps everyone entertained. Like many German Shepherds, she is intelligent, active, and thrives when given exercise, structure, and mental stimulation.

Nova is looking for a family that will appreciate her loyalty, intelligence, and playful spirit while giving her the love and stability she has always deserved.

After everything she has survived, Nova is more than ready to leave her past behind and start the next chapter of her life with a family of her own.
