Norris 2's Story
Hello, I am Norris, and if you're looking for a companion who will be your number one fan, look no further! At around 11 years old, I've mastered the art of enjoying life - daily strolls, the fine art of snacking, napping, spending time with my most favorite person (hint hint) and being the very best listener. I am a sensitive boy with the biggest heart. I promise to repay every moment of affection with the biggest smile and a wagging tail. Even though I am a senior I still love going on easy adventures - just grab my leash and you'll see how happy being your sidekick makes me.

I have been patiently waiting for my forever home, but people keep passing me by -- maybe because of my age, maybe because I get anxious when left alone. I just need someone who understands that some dogs come with a few extra needs.

I was found abandoned and left alone in a house. That kind of experience stays with you. It is why I get anxious when I am left by myself -- not because I am trying to be difficult, but because I know what it feels like to be forgotten, and I never want to feel that way again.

So yes, I have separation anxiety. But I am not broken. I am not "too much." I am simply looking for the kind of person who gets it -- someone who believes that dogs like me are worth the time, the patience, and the love it takes to help us feel safe again.

Maybe you work from home. Maybe you are retired. Maybe you have a heart that has loved and lost a sensitive soul before -- and you know what a privilege it is to earn the trust of a dog who needs you. If that is you, I hope you will keep reading.

A Little About Me:
I may be called a "senior," but I still love my daily walks, and I am always up for easy adventures.

I am low-maintenance -- I love afternoon naps, snacks, and butt scratches.

I love constant companionship -- I am happiest when I can be near you but I am not needy. A home with someone who is around a lot would be perfect for me.

I find comfort in having a calm doggie sibling around when you are not home, but if you wont leave me all alone I will be perfectly happy as your one and only.

I do best in a quiet home without children -- somewhere peaceful, where I can feel secure.

I will need a slow, gentle transition, but you will not be alone in helping me. My foster mom is my biggest cheerleader and is here to support us both. She even offers built-in dog-sitting to help me adjust, and I come with a free training session to help build our bond and boost my confidence.

If you are someone who sees past age and understands that "special needs" dogs are just dogs who need a special person, then I hope you will give me a chance.

Please fill out an application if you would simply like to learn more about me -- or share my story if you think someone else out there might be the person I have been waiting for.

After all this time, I still believe my forever is out there. Maybe it is you.

Norris is in a foster home. If you would like to meet this animal, go to www.souldog.org to fill out an adoption application. When submitting your adoption application make sure to submit a good clear picture of your living room, kitchen, and yard. If you rent, you must provide proof animals are allowed. We will contact references. Once the application is reviewed our adoptions coordinator will send your information to the foster to set up a meet and greet.

We ask that all members of the household come for a meet and greet to ensure there are no personality clashes. If you have other dogs in the home and are meeting a dog you must bring them for the meet and greet. Filling out an adoption application does not mean you will be adopting the animal. Doing a meet and greet with one of our animals does not guarantee you are adopting the animal. We will select the family we feel is the best choice for that animal after screening and meeting applicants.
