Nora's Story

Nora is a hyper, energetic young Newfoundland. She is social with people, other dogs, and loves food! Nora has bilateral hip dysplasia, but beyond safety precautions taken to make sure she does not injure herself, it does not currently slow her down. She is getting desensitized to grooming, as her feet need to be clipped and trimmed often to make sure she does not slip and hurt herself. She does jump quite a bit while she moves around, but never on people, mostly just as compensation for her body’s limitations. Nora does chase cats, and while we assume she will grow out of this, we are recommending a home without cats for her (or any other small dogs or animals that may move away from her quickly) , as she often slips when chasing them (she moves quickly) and this puts her at risk to cause injury to her hips. She is pushy, but respectful of other dogs for the most part. However, due to her hip dysplasia, we will not be placing her in a home with any extremely playful dogs. Playing rough risks injury to her hips which could permanently damage or deteriorate what exists of her joints - a bad enough injury could extremely shorten her lifespan. She would also do fine as an only dog. Nora would benefit from a physical therapy program and other supportive care, but her condition is currently stable. Nora will require a home with very limited stairs and they must have carpet or runners. She will also need a home with good, no-slip floor coverings or carpet.

Interested parties are required to complete our adoption application, which can be found at apply.mnnewfrescue.com

To find out more about our adoption process, check out our FAQ at http://newfoundland.ninja/faq.html

To support the dogs in our care, check out our wish list at wishlist.mnnewfrescue.com

Minnesota Newfoundland Rescue will adopt out-of-state, but adoptions need to be finalized by the adopting family in Minnesota.
