Sunnyside Street Dogs's Adoption Policy

Application is received and reviewed. References will be checked. A home visit in person or on face time will be completed at a mutually convenient time. After the adoption fee paid and contract(s) signed, the dog or puppy can be picked up or transported. Transportation is included in the adoption fee if you live outside of Texas. The availability of the transport company, foster or volunteer transporter, and adopter will determine when the dog unites with their new forever person/people. Pets going on transport will have a health certificate completed by a veterinarian declaring the pet healthy for transport. Read more on transport below. If a dog/puppy goes to their forever home without being spayed or neutered, the adopter needs to sign a sterilization contract - promising they will get their dog/puppy spayed or neutered. Listed breed and age are based on a best guess estimation by rescue and veterinary staff; DNA tests are not included in adoption. If a dog is adopted out of state, they will arrive to their destination via ground transport, unless the adopter will pick up. We coordinate with multiple transport services that operate weekly to Eastern states and bi-weekly or monthly to Western states from Texas to your state or a neighboring state. These are ground transports using third party vehicles (vans/buses) converted for dog transport. Each adopter has the ability to track the van using the app Life360, and receives updates from transport along the way. Facebook chats are another resource to stay informed on tracking dogs on transport. Please be able to use one of these available services if you wish to follow your adopted dog on transport.
