Noor's Story

Noor is a one-of-a-kind dog that will melt your heart!

Noor is estimated to be around a year old and is a charming gentleman who loves everyone he meets. He is the epitome of a social butterfly and adores making new friends wherever he goes - both human and four-legged. He has an easygoing personality that makes him the perfect addition to just about any family. Noor is a petite guy and weighs a little over 40lbs.

Noor came to us from an overcrowded animal shelter in Central CA. He was originally adopted from the shelter as a tiny puppy, but was returned as a young adult when the family had to move. He was a staff and volunteer favorite at the shelter, but found himself on the euthanasia list due to no fault of his own. We stepped in to save his life, and we have all fallen head over heels in love with him. He can't wait to be your new best friend!

Noor is a perfect example of how amazing rescue dogs can be. He is gentle, friendly, well-mannered, and oh-so cute! Everyone who meets him can't help but fall in love with his adorable, big brown eyes and charming personality. He has great energy and is happy to be lazy at home, but is always down for an adventure around town. He has done great joining his foster family for meals at dog-friendly restaurants and hosting dinner parties at home. He loves his walks around the UCD Arboretum and is great on leash. He is very much food-obsessed, but has good manners around food. Noor knows his basic manners, and is eager to learn more - especially if food is involved. He would make a great first-time dog for someone who wants a moderate-energy dog who is past the crazy puppy phase.

Noor has done great living with another large dog, and they love to wrestle and cuddle together. He would do great with a doggy sibling (or siblings) in his new home, but he also wouldn't mind being your only dog - more attention for him! Noor has done great living with a dog-savvy cat. Noor could be a wonderful addition to a family with respectful kids.

Noor is housetrained and is comfortable free-roaming in his foster home for short periods during the day. He is a puppy, so wherever he is kept should be puppy-proofed before leaving him alone. Noor has been doing very well living in an apartment with daily exercise.

Noor is practically perfect, but tragically, we have learned that he was born with a heart defect (subaortic stenosis) that can't be cured. He has been started on medication to help slow his heart rate (which is less than $20 a month), but at some point, he will go into heart failure. He will have a significantly shorter lifespan than most dogs, and his heart will need to be monitored to assess how his condition progresses. While this is horrible news, Noor doesn't need any activity restrictions and can continue to do all the things he loves.

We know that adopting Noor means you will only get a short time with him, but we promise that taking a chance on a boy with a broken heart will be worth all the love he will bring to your life. If you think Noor is the special pup you have been searching for, submit an application today!

Noor's adoption fee is $300.

Apply to adopt here! https://form.jotform.com/52017002013129/

Applications are also available on the website (www.yolospca.org)

It can take up to 3-5 business days to hear back once you have submitted an application.

The Yolo County SPCA is a private, not-for-profit, foster home-based animal rescue organization and does not have a shelter. All our animals awaiting adoption are in foster homes.

Our adoption fees help us cover the cost of spay/neuter surgery, microchip and registration, and rabies vaccination (if over 4 months of age at intake or spay/neuter) for all animals. Dogs are tested for heartworm, started on preventatives, and given a DAPP vaccination. Adult dogs are up to date on their vaccinations prior to adoption. Puppies will be current on the vaccinations appropriate to their age. The adopter is responsible for additional vaccinations as necessary after the adoption.

For more information about an animal, please email dogs@yolospca.org.

For more general questions, please see our website at www.yolospca.org.
