NISSA's Story

Nissa is a gentle, affectionate dog who is seeking a hospice adoption so she can spend her remaining time in comfort and love. She has multiple masses throughout her body that the veterinarian recommends removing, though they may be cancerous. Because of her condition, she needs a home that can offer peace, kindness, and a soft place to rest.

In the shelter, Nissa greets people with warm tail wags and a loose, friendly body. She is very easy to leash and walks calmly down the aisle without reacting to other dogs. Outside, she walks well on leash and returns often for pets and reassurance, happily accepting attention. She may pause and look at other dogs but easily redirects and continues on her walk.

Nissa transitions smoothly back into her kennel, has no reaction to dogs on the way in, and allows the leash to be removed without issue. Even once back in her space, she comes forward for more petting and gentle affection. Nissa is a sweet-natured, people-focused dog who simply wants companionship, comfort, and kindness. She is ready for a quiet, loving home where she can be cherished for the rest of her time.

Adoptions are free and include support from our adoption team to ensure a smooth transition from the shelter to your home. Adopted pets are vaccinated, microchipped, and spayed/neutered before leaving with you. To view our current available animals, please visit: https://indy.gov/activity/adopt-a-pet.
