Nino's Story
HOW TO ADOPT: The fastest way to start is to submit an adoption application directly (labs4rescue.com/adopt). Please use our official website rather than the Petfinder "Start your Inquiry" button.

At seven years young, Nino is a handsome 85-pound black Lab mix is looking for a home where he can shower his new family with affection. He's at a perfect age. He is still active, but past puppy chaos! He is house trained and not destructive. Nino is doing well in his foster home. He loves attention from people and will often use "puppy eyes" or independently offer you his paw to interact with you. His foster mom works from home and says that Nino is a great colleague! He follows her into her office and is quiet and mostly naps during the day-a perfect office mate. That is, unless a fire engine drives by with its siren on- then you'll hear a howl! Nino is extremely interested in squirrels, bunnies and any wildlife he sees through the windows and will often watch "The Window Wildlife Channel" for long periods. This interest in wildlife continues when he is outdoors on walks. He gets very excited and will pull a lot when he sees them. We are working on his leash manner because he is strong. He will need an adopter who can continue to work on this with Nino. Because of his reaction to wildlife, we do not think Nino will do well with a cat sibling. Nino already knows how to "sit" like a good boy and will happily offer you his paw to "shake" when asked (especially if there's a tasty treat involved!). Nino is a "Self-Appointed Quality Control Inspector:" At his height, he doubles as the head kitchen inspector—if you leave a snack on the counter unattended, he considers it a complimentary taste test! He's actively practicing his kitchen manners, and with continued training and clear boundaries, he's making great strides in keeping four paws on the floor. Nino genuinely loves spending time outdoors taking in the sights and smells, but he is just as content being your ultimate couch sidekick. Although he does like dogs, Nino is at his absolute happiest when he is with people. He has so much love left to give and is just waiting for the chance to be your loyal best friend.

QUESTIONS: For additional information about Nino please email Jennifer Vargas: jennifer.vargas@labs4rescue.org

Nino is being fostered in New England.

BEFORE YOU APPLY: Please review our "Adopt a Lab" page (labs4rescue.com/adopt) and our Sample Adoption Contract.
