Nina has never had a family to call her own. But maybe she's finally close. <br/><br/>For most puppies, a home is where life begins.<br/><br/>For Nina, life began behind a fence in Tecate, Mexico.<br/><br/>She spent her puppyhood in an outdoor kennel. Dirt beneath her feet. The same walls and fencing to look at every day. No walks around the neighborhood. No car rides to somewhere fun. No couch to curl up on. No family teaching her how to be a puppy.<br/><br/>Then one of her siblings became sick with parvo, and Nina was exposed. She needed emergency treatment to protect her.<br/><br/>She made it through.<br/><br/>And now, Nina is finally here in California and ready for the part of her story we can't write for her.<br/><br/>A family.<br/><br/>She's sweet, curious and incredibly smart. She's good with dogs of all sizes, cats and kids. She can be shy around men at first, but give her a little time and she warms up.<br/><br/>She doesn't need anything extraordinary.<br/><br/>She needs the things most dogs get without ever having to ask for them.<br/><br/>Someone waiting for her when she wakes up.<br/>Walks. Car rides.
