Nikki's Story

Nikki is almost ready for adoption!

Nikki
Nikki is a fun loving happy girl!! She loves to play with toys. She has been learning Fetch and has become her favorite thing. Otherwise her favorite time is meal time. She will let you know if you are even 1 minute late with her food. She has some Husky energy and definitely needs activities and exercise to keep her happy. If bored she has been know to chewy on something she shouldn’t like a shoe or baseball hat but she is not destructive. She has been in foster with a lot of dogs of different breeds and sizes and has done well. Her temperament is great and we have not seen any aggression from her. She also has been living in foster with a cat and has done well with her feline housemate.
Cara rides are still a scary thing for her but she is getting more comfortable with every ride she takes. Leash walking is still a work in progress but she is doing well with learning not to pull. Potty training is something we are still working on. We believe she came from a background where she was forced to potty in her crate where she was mainly kept. Pitting outside is a foreign concept to her. But she is getting better everyday and in a less chaotic environment with more 1:1 attention I believe she will do better.
She is an absolute joy to have around. She loves her people and just wants a family of her own. She can go from hiking or being active to a cuddle bug on your lap!! And yes she thinks she is a lap dog!!

Cause For Paws's Adoption Policy
In order to encourage folks to rescue homeless Orphans, we try to make the rescue experience as non-invasive and pleasant as possible. First, an application is completed prior to meeting any of our orphans. Since we do not have a shelter, it’s important to be able to pre-qualify folks that will be making appointments with fosters, to meet any of our orphans. We do a vet check, to verify all current or previous dogs are up to date on vaccines, heartworm testing, heartworm prevention, and are either spayed or neutered. We may also contact references listed on the application when there is no previous vet information, or where more information is needed. We’ll then contact you to arrange a home visit, which is merely an opportunity to ask and answer any questions regarding our process. Since most of our orphans have already been in a situation that was not right for them, we want to do whatever it takes to allow them to succeed. It is not our intent to set a dog or a family up for failure.
