Nico

Nico is a stunning tri-colored short &amp; stocky pit mix with gorgeous green eyes! Nico came from a high kill shelter in the heart of Chicago where most dogs are picked up in the worst neighborhoods. He was brought into the shelter as a stray dog with little known information. Nico has been in our rescue since February 2016. <br/><br/>Here's is what we know about Nico:<br/><br/>--- Nico would prefer no cats or other dogs in his life. <br/>--- Nico is so content sitting at home he doesn't want to be in the car too much. The anticipation of not knowing where he's going gets to him. He rides best in a kennel in the car, if needed. <br/>--- Nico would be best with older children who know how to respect dogs. He's fine being handled by older children and especially loves when they feed him treat, he GENTLY takes treats from your hand. <br/>--- Nico has some anxiety with new people and places but he does relax with time and it is more then worth the wait because this handsome guy is just the best!<br/>--- Nico is so special because he is so easy. He doesn't need much once he's settled in. He is easy to please and wants someone to give him a chance at a forever life.<br/><br/>His foster is head over heels for Nico and wanted to share this about him for anyone who is interested in meeting him: &quot;Nico is hands down the most laid back foster I have ever had. He is an old soul and can easily sleep 20 hours a day. Nico's favorite activity is sun bathing, he will find sun anywhere in the yard no matter the time of day. Nico enjoys the outdoors and is so relaxed when he's able to lay outside. He happy laying on a floor, couch, or dog bed. He isn't picky about where he takes naps... he just makes sure he takes them. Nico would make a best friend for someone that is willing to give him time to warm up. He absolutely loves human affection! He loves to cuddle with you but is also happy retreating back to his dog bed. Nico loves walks (even though he takes them at a slow pace) and will walk so gracefully on a leash.
