Nia came to us initially May 5th of 2022 thin, obviously bred, heartworm positive, and had the gentlest most loving personality. She was a foster fail in her first home, but unfortunately had gotten a wild hair about her and showed her dog companion how to escape the fence and they went on a grand adventure that nearly cost Nia her life. She went to play with neighbors horses and she was seen as a threat and was shot. This resulted in her return to the rescue and a new bionic elbow and a whole lot of vet bills. Once she was back, she was confused as to why she was in trouble and became very sad and unhappy in boarding.
A lovely lady came to emergency foster Nia last year and because of what an amazing dog she's been, she has held on to her this entire time. Unfortunately, this foster has sold her home and Nia now needs placement quickly. They describe her as a funny, loving, energy matching dog. She's very smart and watches all resident dogs and makes sure everyone plays nice. All her new dog friends get lots of kisses and and she loves humans just as hard. Nia walks beautifully on a leash. In a new experiences she will be timid until she feels out the situation and then puts on her brave. ? Nia is part husky and will howl her good mornings and tap dance for her food. She's content inside or outside with humans and dog friends. Although Nia doesnt HAVE to have a dog friend, she is a lot more independent and comfortable with one. This girl lives for routine and consistency, loves car rides and is am overall very well adjusted companion once she understands her expectations. She's a dog that wants everyone to be happy and chill, and would make a great ESA.
Please don't make us send a dog back to boarding who's been in a home for 2 years. I fear it would really crush her beautiful spirit. Right now, she's located in Tulsa Oklahoma but we will drive her ANYWHERE in the United States to an approved adopter.
Nia Jane comes healthy, heartworm negative, vaccinated, microchipped, current on prevention and with a clean bill of health. Adoption fee $100
She does occasionally ear infections from allergies due to her large wide open ears, but this can be easily managed and has been kept up with. Please consider giving Nia a forever home.
