Humane Society of Young County's Adoption Policy
Our adoption fees are $125 for dogs and $75 for cats. Fees include: for dogs: spay/neuter vaccinations including DAVP (boostered if with us long enough) Canine Influenza, bordetella and rabies heart worm test (if over 6 mos)/ and prevention deworming flea/tick prevention if needed microchip for cats: spay/neuter vaccinations including Rabies and FVRCP Feline Leukemia and Feline AIDS testing deworming flea/tick prevention if needed microchip Adopters must be 18 yrs of age or older. You must have a steady income. Adopter's other animals must be listed on the application and must be spayed or neutered and up to date on vaccinations, unless there is a valid reason why not. Adopters with other pets must list a vet they use. Adopters without other pets must list a vet that they plan on using. Dog adopters must have a fenced yard (some exceptions made on a case-by-case basis). Past pets and reasons for no longer having them must be listed. Two personal references (non-relatives) must be listed. Adopters must agree to keep dogs on heartworm preventative and dogs/cats on flea/tick preventative. Animals adopted from this organization are required to be altered and kept up to date on vaccinations. If a spay/neuter appointment is missed, this is considered a breach of contract and the animal will be returned to us. Dogs from this organization cannot be used as hog dogs, guard dogs, strictly as hunting dogs, or be chained out. Cats adopted from this organization cannot be declawed.
