Nessie's Story
Meet sweet Nessie! At around 2 years old, she is on the petite side weighing just under 50 pounds. As is too often the case for a black dog, she was languishing in a southern shelter without much hope of getting adopted. Thankfully, she made her way to Save a Lab!

Nessie is a friendly, easy-going girl who LOVES everyone she meets. She is active and playing outside is one of her favorite things!

Having been in a shelter for a while, Nessie was a little protective of her foster dad initially; she wanted all the love! She has improved greatly but can still be a bit fussy if one of the other dogs tries to intrude on her one-on-one time with her beloved foster dad (he is pretty sweet on her too!). Otherwise, Nessie does get along with the other dogs in the home. She is fed separately but has no issue waiting patiently for treats! Bonus, Nessie has been good with cats as well.

Nessie is crate trained and house trained. She sleeps in her crate at night and when her people are out of the house. There was an unfortunate incident with a couch when she first arrived, 🫣but she has learned a lot since then!

Nessie would do well in most any home. She has a zest for life; is playful and enjoys being active but also loves to snuggle with family on the couch. She is still young and needs routine and consistency but will make a lovely addition to an active home.

Nessie will be available for adoption on, or after, November 28th, 2025

If you are interested in Nessie and are an approved adopter, please contact your Adoption Coordinator to be added to Nessie’s list. If you are a not yet approved, you can find our adoption guidelines and application at: www.savealabrescue.org

Nessie will be fostered in RI
