Nessie's Story

Meet Nessie. ♥ï ̧ Nessie arrived at our shelter on Thursday January 8th. She had, at some point, been shot in the face with a .22. She is only about 1 year old, still just a baby, and despite the unimaginable pain she’s endured, she greets everyone with softness and trust. Thanks to the compassionate team at Brainerd Animal Health Center, Nessie was rushed in for emergency medical care. The bullet shattered multiple teeth, all of which had to be removed, and her gums required sutures. She also has open wounds that are currently draining as her body works to heal. X-rays and photos of her injuries after treatment are attached so you can see what this sweet girl has survived in her short life. What breaks our hearts most is that Nessie is nothing but kind. She is calm, loving, and incredibly well-mannered — a dog who clearly only wants to be loved in return. Even after being hurt so deeply, she still trusts people and allows us all to assess and treat her wounds with little protest. Nessie is a truly special dog, and she deserves a future filled with safety, comfort, and compassion.
