Nessie's Story

Meet Nessie!!!

Nessie is a 7-year-old, medium-sized girl (around 50 lbs) who came to us when her family felt she was no longer meshing well with the other animals in the home. The shelter environment has been overwhelming for her, but Nessie is doing her best as she adjusts to all the new sights and sounds. She seems to know “sit” and shows that she can still learn and connect when given patience and understanding.

Nessie can be a bit nervous, especially in busy or unpredictable situations, and would prefer a home without young children. She may need some extra time to settle in, and adopters should be comfortable giving her space and allowing her to build trust at her own pace. With a calm environment and respectful handling, Nessie has the potential to relax and show more of her personality as she becomes comfortable.

In her previous home, changes in the household dynamics impacted her relationships with other dogs. Here at the shelter, Nessie has been uncomfortable at first when meeting new dogs, but with time she’s been able to play and enjoys sharing the yard. She may be able to live with another dog following a successful meet-and-greet at the shelter. For the right home—one that’s patient, calm, and understanding—Nessie could be a wonderful companion.

She is spayed, microchipped, up-to-date on vaccinations and preventatives. If you have further questions, please call the shelter at (517) 626-6060 or email our adoption staff at adoptions@AdoptLansing.org.
