Meet Neo

Neo is about one year old, 22 inches tall at the shoulder and weighs 44 pounds. He’s very handsome with a gorgeous brindle coat and white front boots. Neo has had a very long journey with New Hope beginning in early April when he was found malnourished, injured and in pain. Our terrific vet partners discovered a fractured left ilium and healing fracture on his left knee. Weeks of crate rest did not solve the problem, and a femoral head ostectomy was performed. Sadly after surgery, despite more rest and rehabilitation exercise, his leg did not align normally which continued to cause him pain and he just would not use the leg. Neo’s problem left leg was amputated on July 20th followed by a trouble free recovery. He’s now a happy, pain free rascal who is ready to find a loving home. Neo now has the run of our house and yard, and has no problems with stairs or running in the yard or hopping on the couch. He is housetrained and crate trained. Neo is very people oriented and wants to be with you and do whatever you are doing. He is too much for small children as he would knock them down when excited, but he’s met older children and has been fine. Cats are a definite no. He chases birds and bugs and his ball and his stick. He is very good at returning with the ball but not so great about dropping it for another throw. We’ve just started working on it as he was restricted from running and chasing for so long. Neo loves splashing in his dog pool and we’re thinking he’ll be thrilled with snow! A large secure yard would be ideal for Neo. Toys. Neo loves toys. With little physical exercise earlier, he’s super good at puzzle games, snuffle mats and treat balls, and loves chewing on stuffed toys and rope toys. He is fairly high energy so the right balance of physical and mental exercise is what this boy needs to get tuckered out and snuggle with us on the couch. Neo has not been out in the big world too much and we’ve started daily 15 or 20 minute walks. Neo gets over stimulated and needs lots of work in the “walking nicely” category. He is very strong and pulls hard on his harness, but his daily walk has become important to him and is important to his development. Neo will learn with a confident experienced owner as he is very smart and really does want to please. Neo is not happy seeing other dogs on our walks probably because he’s been sheltered for much of his young life. With a proper introduction, he has the capacity to have a buddy as he lives with our very small old grumpy dog who definitely does not want to play as much as Neo, but they get along fine. Neo is really awesome guy who just needs time and experience in the big world, and a patient and loving home.

Neo is neutered, microchipped, current on vaccines, dewormed and has received a wellness exam. His adoption fee is $295
