He is in a foster home in San Antonio, Texas and will transport once an adopter is approved.

Meet Navajo — Your Loyal, Loving Adventure Buddy 🐾

Navajo is a sweet, affectionate, and easygoing pup who brings the perfect balance of playful energy and relaxed companionship. He’s the kind of dog who’s just as happy joining you for a daily walk as he is curling up nearby for a cozy evening at home.

🐶 Dog Social Skills
Navajo enjoys playing with other dogs and especially likes one-on-one or small group play rather than big, chaotic packs. His play style depends on his buddy — sometimes he gets the zoomies and runs joyful laps around the yard, and other times he’s content to sniff and explore. He usually reads social cues well, though occasionally he may need gentle redirection if he gets a little too excited. He’s done well with dogs of all sizes but tends to feel most comfortable with dogs his size( he is 75 pounds so this covers a lot of pups) or smaller, and proper introductions help him succeed with bigger dogs. He attends daycare regularly and has made great progress with his doggy manners.

🐾 On Leash
Navajo is polite and non-reactive on leash. He can walk past dogs and squirrels without fuss, though he may pull a little at the start of walks when he’s excited. Once he settles in, he’s a very pleasant walking partner.

🏡 Home Life
He’s fully house-trained and crate-trained (though he doesn’t need to be crated at home and will happily nap in his crate with the door open). He can be left loose in the house when you’re away and has shown no signs of separation anxiety. At home, he’s calm, chill, and easy to live with.

👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 People & Kids
Navajo loves meeting people and greets strangers with friendliness — unless he’s busy sniffing something interesting! He’s done well around children and has shown no concerns. He would likely thrive in a home with kids, though interactions with very young children haven’t been fully tested.

🐱 Cats
Navajo would do best in a cat-free home. During a boarding stay, he showed a strong prey drive and fixation toward cats.

🧠 Personality
Affectionate • Playful • Smart • Curious • Silly • Independent
He adores toys and will often greet you at the door proudly carrying his favorite stuffed animal. He’s also a champion cuddler who loves being close to his people.

🚗 Bonus Traits

Excellent car rider

Great at the vet (staff favorite!)

No issues with stairs

Loves cozy, unusual nap spots — like laundry baskets or even bathtubs!

🍖 Food & Manners
Navajo has shown no resource guarding with food, treats, toys, or people.

🦷 Health Note
When he arrived in foster care, Navajo needed dental work and had several damaged teeth removed, including his canines. The good news: his remaining teeth are healthy, and he still happily chews his favorite bones without any trouble.

🏡 Ideal Home
Navajo would thrive in a stable, moderately active home that enjoys daily walks, occasional outings, and lots of affection. He doesn’t need an ultra-active lifestyle — just consistent exercise, love, and companionship. He could do well as an only dog or with a compatible canine friend.

💛 Why Navajo?
Because he’s the total package — loving, well-mannered, adaptable, and endlessly devoted. He truly lives to please his person and is ready to spend his golden years being someone’s very best friend.

***Listed BREED and AGE - We are taking our best guess & recommendations from our veterinarian on age, breed and size when fully grown. We rarely know a dog's exact age nor are we able to tell the true or full breed mix of dogs as our information is limited most of the time. ***

Interested in applying to adopt him?
