Meet Nate! Nate came to us do to his previous owner no longer being able to take care of him. He's on the hunt for an active, dog-savvy owner that can keep up with his needs. He has been around children of all ages and has reportidly been friendly and playful with them. He has not lived with cats but is curious of them; with his high prey drive, he may be TOO interested in them. He has been around other dogs and is friendly and playful but can get jealous when other canines are in his space. All introductions should be slow and proper when bringing a new animal home to help set them up for success! Nate is a very energetic guy who would benefit from having a large yard to run in or a planned exercise routine. He needs regular mental and physical exercise to keep entertained. In true hound fashion, he LOVES to spend time sniffing all the smells. He could spend all day sniffing around. Nate doesn't spend his time looking down; in fact, he spends most his time looking up! (In trees, for squirrels) Nate is a little wild on the leash and could use some help learning how to walk like the proper gentleman he is. He likes to slip his collar so he will need an alternate walking device, such as a harness or Emily Weiss Walkie to keep him safe. He experiences separation anxiety when kenneled but has previously done well having free roam of the home. Although he likes all sorts of treats, Nate's favorite is ice! He also loves to play tug and fetch. He is house-trained and will ring a bell or come find you to let you know he needs to go out. His new home should be prepared to give him time to adjust to their space and get into a potty routine. Nate also knows sit and stay and would love to work on learning more tricks!
