Nancy's Story

Nancy is 2.5 years old weighs 80 pounds.

Nancy is a goofy girl who is looking for a loving home. She is very smart and eager to please her people. She catches on quickly to house rules and has good recall in an unfenced yard, although she's working on perfecting it with distractions around (she likes to chase bicycles).
Food is a big motivator for her, but she doesn't counter surf andis respectful of staying out of kitchen or dining room when asked. She has no food or toy aggression.

Nancy is fully house trained, but she is more subtle about asking to go outside, she will usually just come up to you quietly a few times. She is working on leash manners and doing quite well, she does tend to keep the leash tight but doesn't pull too much.

She loves to play and wrestle with other dogs and would love a dog sibling with a similar energy level to her own. Older cats that don't rip around as much would be best with Nancy as she tends to want to play when they get excited, and she doesn't know her size. There is also a senior rabbit sibling that she does very well with, they can be found cuddled right beside each other on a dog bed.

Older children would be better for Nancy to be in a home with, only because she can be goofy and forget how big she is, sometimes knocking small children over when playing. That said, she lives with a two year old and is wonderful with her. The toddler gets bumped from time to time, but other than that, she is so gentle with her.

Nancy is currently kenneled when no one is home but can (sometimes) escape a wire kennel. She will likely be fine being left loose in a room or house with either another dog to play with or some good chew toys.

There was an incident with Nancy and one of her dog siblings, resulting in her needing to find a new home.
A grouchy senior pom snapped at her one too many times and Nancy fought back. It was not Nancy's fault, she had just had enough and doesn't know her size and strength.
Unfortunately they can't be in the same space together anymore and Nancy needs a new home.

She would love to meet you!

K9 Advocacy's Adoption Policy
ADOPTION PROCESS Adoption Application: Complete the adoption form at the bottom of this page Phone Screening: Once your adoption application has been received, selected applicants will be contacted by one of K9 Adoption Team members who will do a phone screening with you. This is an opportunity to go over your adoption application and discuss the K9 adoption process. References will be called Meeting the K9 Advocacy Dog: If you meet the preliminary screening criteria, the Adoption Coordinator will set up a chat between the K9 Adoption team, the foster and the applicant and an initial meeting between you and the K9 Advocacy dog will be set up. This gives you a chance to meet the dog and gives the foster parent or team member a chance to meet you. We do prefer to do the meeting at the applicants residence so the adoptable dog has a chance to meet any other animals in the home and to complete the home check at the same time. After the meeting, you will have 24 hours to decide if you would like to: - Puppies - proceed with adoption - Adult dogs - proceed with the two week adoption trial Two week trial period will begin: Arrangements will be made to start the 2 week adoption trial within 3 days. You will continue to use your chat with the adoption team to answer any questions you have while completing the trial. The adoption fee must be paid prior to the 2 week trial starting. The adoption fee can be sent to k9advocacymanitoba@gmail.com with the dogs name included in the message line. Finalizing the Adoption: For puppie and for adults; if both you and the team member agree to move forward with the adoption, arrangements can be made to finalize the adoption. Adoption Fee: Puppy: $500 (under 6 months) Teen/Adult: $400 (over 6 months) Small Breed: $500 Senior: $200 (over 7 years) Adoption fees include: Spay / Neuter Parvo/Distemper Vaccines Rabies Vaccines 2-3 Dewormings 4DX testing if required 6 weeks free Pet Insurance Please note: Adoption fees for puppies under 6 months will not be refunded. Adoption fees for adult dogs over 6 months will be refunded 50% if the dog is returned before the completion of the two week trial. This process is to ensure that those applying are really considering the dedication to taking a new furbaby into their home. If at anytime an agreement is met that is different to the above this is to be completed in writing by adoptee and adoption coordinator.
