NALLAH BELL**'s Story
I was surrendered to the shelter when my owner could no longer care for me. I am understandably a little shy, but I am very sweet. I also have heartworms, and the staff at the shelter is working on my treatment. They can give you more information about that if you are interested in me. In North Carolina, it's unfortunately common to see many dogs that are infected with heartworms (they are transmitted by mosquito bites). Heartworm disease may cause severe lung disease, heart failure, or other organ damage in dogs. It's usually fatal if left untreated. Heartworm treatment is costly. With your support, OCAS can help more dogs with this disease - resulting in healthier dogs that are even more likely to get adopted. Please consider donating to our GoFundMe campaign . Notes from my adventure buddies and foster friends: Nallah B. is shy at first, but once she warms up she is sweet and affectionate. Great with kids - enjoyed the littlest one the most (8) and would make a point to walk near her. Overall would make a wonderful addition to any family. We took Nallah B. to Morgan Creek trail and walked about a mile. She was not stressed or reactive to strangers or other dogs. She walked about a mile and never pulled on her leash. A pup cup was the best way to end her visit - she was so good in the long drive through line and made friends with the car behind us.The kids say she was sweet, nice and likes small people. The grown ups say they enjoy her sweet dog smile and easy nature. She definitely deserves and will so appreciate a loving home. Nala belle is sweet and mellow. She was very easy-going and tolerant toward any people, creatures and activities. But her favorite activities were sniffing, looking out a window (in the car or dog store), and laying in the creek. If you have a backyard where she can roam, a kiddie pool, where she can chill, and a window where she can overlook/observe, you will make Nala belle a very happy girl. Nallah Bell is sweet and calm. She enjoys soaking up the sun and being in nature. She does like to sniff on the trail, but she doesn't pull, and she gets more into the walk as she goes along. We did lift her into the car for travel. She wasn't being defiant: it looked like it's awkward for her to jump into a car from the ground. She is very calm when being lifted. Once she decides to rest though, she has made up her mind. Coaxing with treats helps! Nallah was a very sweet girl on a Dog Day Out. Very shy at first once she warmed up she was amazing! We walked around a college campus and made lots of friends, we got Starbucks (pup cup). We walked around a trail and took 2 naps. She's very sweet and calm. She is very well behaved and listens very well. She was so so sweet and very gentle. Cutest face. Very inquisitive and curious. Likes to smell a lot. No barking. No lunging or growling. Very pleasant. Enjoys belly rubs. Loves grass. Loves digging. Seemed very genial. We started by going to the park and saw the troll statues. Pulled a bit and was shy but got very interested in trolls. Laid in the grass and got belly rubs. Walked about and ate lunch. Took nap in the sun. Enjoyed getting cookies. Cute little ears. When she smiles. The belly rubs and wiggles. Very kind and sweet. Not too much energy so very good for cuddles. Nallah Bell displayed trusting behaviors with me from the moment we met. She has a calm, friendly demeanor. She has a wonderfully big smile, too, which opened my heart even more. We went for a short walk on a pine needle-covered path at Wilson Park. She was great on the leash, occasionally sniffing and exploring. One time, we ran across a leashed dog, and she got super excited in a friendly way. The weather was warm, and she felt overheated. At her request, we paused to rest. After she had a moment to recover, she stood, signaling she was ready to continue our walk. After our walk, we enjoyed a bit more rest. During this time, she was incredibly cuddly. Whenever I hugged her, she'd lean into me, returning the embrace. Nallah Bell truly stole my heart in that moment. She enjoyed her Pup Cup afterwards! Nallah is an absolute sweetheart, and it was a joy getting to spend time with her! She was shy for all of 5 minutes and a bit hesitant on crosswalks, but within 30 minutes, she was walking with confidence. We explored main campus together, and she truly shined. She was friendly, incredibly gentle, and happy to meet new people, making friends along the way. Her warm and loving personality makes her easy to adore. She got a pup cup, which she loves, and enjoyed quietly looking out the window. She would be an invaluable addition to any family! She did very well on a leash and loves the outdoors. She seems very affectionate and cuddly and overall a great dog!
