Nala's Story
Nala is a beautiful 3-year-old, 97 pound dog who has grown into her adult maturity with a loving, loyal nature and a strong bond to her people. As she matured, she began having conflicts with another intact dog in the home, which led to her needing a new placement. She is scheduled to be spayed soon, and there is hope that once her hormones fully settle, she may be able to live successfully with another dog in the future given proper introductions and time. Nala has lived peacefully with a cat, does well with children of all ages, and is comfortable with adults. She is crate trained, housebroken, and knows basic commands including sit, come, lay down, and stay. Nala loves to run, enjoys cuddling, and has a healthy amount of energy. The shelter environment is stressful for her as it is for many. As leashes are new and add to her nervousness, she will benefit from a calm, patient home. She can be protective of her food, so meals and high-value treats should be given in a safe, separate space such as a crate or gated room. With structure, understanding, and affection, Nala has the potential to truly thrive in a loving home.

At the Humane Society of Midland County, all animals adopted will be spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up to date on age-appropriate vaccinations prior to adoption. Dogs over 6 months of age will be heartworm tested, and any dog with a positive test will receive treatment at no additional cost to the owner. This is one reason we have fees on the dogs to help cover the extra medical some of the other residents need. They all share the burden and the rewards.
No Appointment Needed to Meet Adoptable Animals!
We have open adoption hours, and walk-ins are always welcome! While filling out an application lets us know you're interested in adopting, it does not hold an animal, and applications are not required to meet the available animals. We typically require a meet-and-greet between any resident dogs and the dog you’re interested in adopting, to ensure everyone gets along safely and comfortably.
Want to Know if I’m Still Available?
Call the shelter at (989)-835-1877 to confirm my availability. If you’d like to show you’re thinking about adopting, please fill out an application on our website under "Adopt" at www.hsomc.org.
Open Adoption Hours:
• Tuesday & Wednesday: Noon – 6 pm
• Thursday & Friday: Noon – 7 pm
• Saturday: Noon – 4 pm
I’m located at the Humane Society of Midland County, 4371 E Ashman St, Midland, MI 48642.
We can’t wait to meet you and help you find your new best friend!
