Nala's Story

This cutie is Miss Nala! Nala is one of WRS's permanent fosters. Nala came to WRS a few years ago and it became evident that Nala had some deeply rooted behavioral issues. While we were able to place Nala in a foster home where she is now thriving, we were also realistic that it would be virtually impossible to find a forever home for her; Nala needs a very quiet home with virtually no visitors or outside stressors. So, the decision was made for Nala to become a permanent foster; WRS will make sure that Nala is safe and spoiled for the rest of her life, as well as ensuring she has all the stuffed animals she could ever wish for (Nala LOVES to play with her stuffies!). WRS has several permanent fosters who, for a variety of reasons (behavioral, health, age, etc.) will be with us for the rest of their lives. They are all in amazing foster homes and we're so grateful to those wonderful people who have opened their hearts and homes to these special pups.

Weimaraner Rescue of the South's Adoption Policy

Weimaraner Rescue of the South is a strong advocate of responsible pet ownership, which includes and is not limited to: 1. Consistent history of preventative care, including monthly heartworm prevention and annual wellness exams, vaccinations, heartworm tests. 2. All current pets are spayed or neutered. 3. WRS rarely places dogs into homes without a structurally fenced yard. We do not consider "invisible fences" to be a suitable substitution. Any person/persons applying to adopt who does not meet the responsible pet ownership requirements set forth by WRS will have their application denied. Each dog offered for adoption has been spayed or neutered, is current on all shots, has been heartworm tested and is on heartworm preventative. WRS will make recommendations of dogs who match the applicant's lifestyle, home environment, activity level, etc. We will not place a particular dog in a home if we feel it is not a suitable fit. Adult dogs - $425 Puppies younger than 6 months - $500+ $100 refundable spay/neuter deposit Senior dogs (age 9+) - $350 Effective 7/26/2023, WRS has put into place a policy where we will be doing prophylactic gastropexies when any of our rescues are being either spayed or neutered. Gastropexies are the only proven way to reduce the risk of GDV (bloat) in dogs, which is oftentimes fatal. Because this is a significant additional surgical expense, we will be implementing an additional fee of $150 to our standard adoption fees for any dog who receives a gastropexy.
