Nala's Story

Adoptable Mix Nala is a shy girl with the softest soul and the silliest zoomies.

Nala is a 2-year-old, 20-pound Dachshund mix who came to us as a young, unsure mama with eight puppies (Pascal, Olaf, Snow White, Dale, Dash, and Chip) depending on her. And while her past is still a bit of a mystery, her heart tells the real story… this girl is gentle, tender, and so ready to feel safe and loved for the rest of her life.

About Nala
Nala is naturally timid when meeting new people. She’ll give a few barks to ask, “Are you safe?” But once she realizes she’s home… oh, she melts. She becomes a little shadow who curls up beside you on the couch during TV time, rests her head on your chest, and sighs the sweetest sigh of relief. She loves deeply and just needs someone patient enough to let her open at her own pace.

Home Life:
– Housetrained
– Crate trained
– Sleeps in her own space but happily cuddles during movie nights
– Nervous in the car but rides fine in a kennel
– Not great on a leash yet, she prefers a fenced backyard where she can run, explore, and let her free spirit shine

***Nala is a RUNNER*** Extra care must be taken to keep her safe!

🌟 Nala’s Personality:
– Quiet, observant, and soft-hearted
– Playful in the yard – her “little deer hops” are adorable
– Not bothered by thunder or loud noises
– Not an excessive barker
– No separation anxiety
– No food or toy aggression
🐾 With Other Pets:
– Dogs: Curious and wants to play but barks at first from nerves. No aggression observed. Not tested with large dogs yet.
– Cats: LOVES them – tail wags, gentle play, lots of fascination.
– Kids: Has been around kids under five. She barks at first but shows no aggression.

Vetting and Medical
In our care, Nala has received vet checks, vaccines, and nail trimming. Nala is heartworm positive and is on heartworm treatment. She will be spayed as soon as she is cleared by the vet.

***In the event that we can find the RIGHT home for Nala prior to her completing of the heartworm treatment, we will make arrangements as a foster-adopter and provide the spay at an affordable vet near the foster-adopter. We are searching for the right person who can be patient with her as she settles in, understands her potential to run away when scared, and can provide a safe environment to finish her medical treatments (heartworm and spay). She is well worth the effort!

Medical Donations
We depend on donations from caring people, like you, to make a difference in the lives of dogs. As an all volunteer organization, you can rest assured that the donations go directly to help the dogs. Thank you!

Adoptable Mix Nala – 2 years old, 20 pounds
Nala would thrive with someone who understands shy dogs, someone gentle, patient, and consistent. A fenced-in yard will be a necessity for her. It will be EXTREMELY important to give her time to know she’s safe! Give her time, safety, and kindness, and you’ll watch her blossom into the lovable, goofy, loyal best friend she’s been waiting her whole life to be. Adoption Fee: $300.

If you believe you could provide a safe and loving forever home for this dog, please fill out an application with the dogs’ name on it.

*Be advised, we have a couple of volunteers processing hundreds of applications. We are unable to call everyone back as we do not have ANY employees. Our dedicated volunteers and foster parents will check references of the applications that appear to be a good match. At that time, if you are chosen, we will contact you to arrange a home visit.

The adoption fee helps to cover costs, as each dog is fully vetted, and treated, as needed to prepare them to move forward in their new life. You pay no fee unless you are chosen to adopt.

Under 1 $350
1-3 years $300
4-7 years $250
8-10 years $200
Over 10 $150
Special Needs $150
