Myla's Story

Myla was hours away from being killed. She'd been deadlined for space at South LA Shelter, set to die that Monday morning, and the only thing standing between her and that outcome was someone saying yes before 5pm the day before. We partnered with Hot Girls Care to make sure that yes happened.

She came into the shelter back in May after her owner had to give her up over a landlord issue, not because of anything Myla did. Everyone who met her said the same thing. Respectful. Playful. Gentle with people, including kids, and good with other dogs too. At the shelter she became one of the favorites, the dog staff pulled out for playgroup because she was so good at helping other dogs feel comfortable. A greeter. A social butterfly. The kind of dog that makes a hard job a little easier.

While she waited, she picked up an upper respiratory infection and spent more than two weeks in isolation being treated for it, right as her time was running out. The day she finally got let out into the yard for a little freedom, she acted like the happiest dog alive. A total house hippo, over the moon about grass and sunshine and five minutes outside a kennel.

Myla got out in time. She's safe now.

She's 1 year, 10 months old, 55 pounds, playful, social, and good with people and other dogs. Myla would do great in a home with kids, a home with other dogs, or really any home with people around who want to give her the attention she clearly thrives on.

Real Good Rescue is a foster-based rescue in Los Angeles, CA.
Learn more at www.realgood.dog
