Murphy's Story
Murphy is a two year-old male Weimaraner that came to TPWR from a shelter partner after being rescued by a neighbor of his original family. His history is relatively unknown.

Still very much a puppy, Murphy bonds quickly with humans and does well with other dogs in his foster family. While we do not know what he experienced early in life, Murphy quickly let us know that he needed to feel safe and wanted to be loved, learning that the world around him is full of fun.

In his loving foster home, Murphy has adjusted well through structure and training. He loves to be with his humans and cuddle, absolutely loves to play ball, romp in his backyard, and play with the other dog in his foster home. He has done well cohabitating both with female and male large dogs. Murphy loves to go on walks, still needs more training to walk well on leash, but is mesmerized but everything he sees and smells on a hike. He is adapting to crate-training and loves sleeping on a plush dog bed. For a Weimaraner, Murphy is fairly petite and weighs in at approximately 55 lbs making him more a "pocket" Weimaraner. Also, unlike many Weimaraners, Murphy loves water and very much enjoys splashing in water pools, small or large.

Murphy is looking for a quiet and loving adoptive home, one where there is regular structure and routine, yet with a family that is active. He will thrive with regular walks and hikes, continued training and daily structure. His adoptive home would preferably be an adult-only (no children) family that has experience with owning a Weimaraner, and who has lots of time to spend with Murphy to continue his training so he can build his trust and confidence. At this time it is our belief that Murphy would be most comfortable in a home with no more than one other, large breed dog. Murphy would not do well with cats or other small pets in the home.

We prefer to communicate directly prior to asking anyone interested to submit an adoption application.

If you are interested in learning more about Murphy and sharing about your hopes for an adoptive dog, please email us at contact@weimaranerrescue.org
