Mr. Marbles

Mr Marbles could be the most loving Velcro dog that our rescue has ever encountered. The videos and photos only tell a small portion of his story, though. He arrived a few months back, a matted and traumatized mess. An owner-surrender under severe duress; he was confused, concerned, and sporting an old harness about 4-sizes too small.<br/><br/><div dir="auto">Our first foster tried to release him from that harness, to no avail. He was clearly uncomfortable and profoundly untrusting. Five attempts resulted in 5 bites. One of them breaking skin. That was the one the foster had managed to free him with. She took it for the team, and since that day, Mr. Marbles has bonded hard with her. He realizes that she will never hurt him. Unlike his history with humans, if only he could tell us what had experienced! He licks the foster's face and loves her so much! He has also shown love and contentment with the foster's adult son (pictured above). Neither of them fear him one single bit. She knows he will never bite her again. But he might nip at you, if not approached calmly and peacefully.</div><div dir="auto"></div><div dir="auto">You'll need to build his trust up yourself. We cannot do that for you. You'll need to approach him slowly, not hover or surprise him. Let him come to you, on his terms not yours. In time, you'll have the most loyal loving companion a pet lover could dream of. But it's a process - a marathon, not a sprint. He'll forever have PTSD from whatever demons chased him before that day we rescued him from a fearful life.</div><div dir="auto"></div><div dir="auto">Mr. Marbles will need a fenced-in yard. A quiet home without a lot of strangers coming and going would also be best as he learns to feel safe in his space. He loves other dogs, and will play all day long until he tuckers out. It's a bonus if you already have a dog, but not a requirement.
