Mr. Clean's Story

My name is Mister Clean and I’m looking for my forever home. Why am I named after a bald guy? Well, I came to SIRA after being found lying in mud on the side of the road, emaciated and bald from a severe flea infestation. I was in bad shape. X-rays showed metal and food wrappers in my tummy – I was so hungry I ate anything! My ears were infected and I was very anemic. But once I got food and vet care, things got much better! My fur started growing back and my ears healed. And I put on weight – I’m about 28 pounds now. I am being fostered just north of Columbus, OH. SIRA thinks I’m about 10 years old. I’m great with other dogs and I love cuddling with my foster family. Yep, you heard that right. I’m a “fake Shiba” since I love to snuggle. My foster family was told that I may have a disc problem in my back and maybe something going on with my hips, but so far, nothing slows me down. I dart, spin, and dance my way through the house! Every time I come in from a potty break, I get the most exquisite zoomies. I pirouette, fling myself up on the couch, and then dance around the whole house. I love going on walks with my foster family, getting treats and belly rubs, and perching on my favorite chair. I’ll happily speak up and tell you off if you’re too slow to take me outside or if you’re not sharing your treats with me. I am fully house trained and I do fine when my foster family has to leave the house. Now that I’ve beaten the odds, the only thing I need is a forever family. My perfect forever home will have a nice comfy spot with a sunbeam to nap in and someone who will let me sit in their lap and give me a rub-down. If there’s another nice dog, that would be great, but I’d probably do fine as an only dog as long as you spend time with me. I’d do best with a securely fenced yard, but also enjoy leash walks. I'm neutered and vaccinated and ready to go! I haven’t lived with children, cats or small pets, so I don’t know how I’d be with them. If you live in the Midwest and want to give my “rags to riches” story its happy ending, I promise I’ll be your fun, smart, spunky very best buddy. Visit www.savingshibas.com/adopt to apply to become an approved SIRA adopter. The application process helps SIRA learn more about you to make sure we’ll be a good match. Once approved, SIRA will introduce you to my foster mom so we can meet. I would love that!

Shiba Inu Rescue Association's Adoption Policy
So you've seen the beautiful, headstrong breed known as the Shiba Inu. You've researched the breed's characteristics and examined your living situation and decided you are ready to open your home to a Shiba Inu. Here is a brief summary of SIRA's adoption process. For more detailed information please visit our website: www.savingshibas.com/adopt. The best first step if you live in the midwest and are considering adopting from SIRA is to visit our webiste and read through the adoption policies and procedures. Then you can complete our online application to become approved as an adopter. Once you have completed your application, you will receive a confirmation receipt from Google Form. Depending on how many applications we're processing, it may take several days before you hear back. If you have questions about the status of your application, please email adoptsirashibas@gmail.com. The application forms help us learn more about you and your home environment so we can identify any potential challenges and match you with available dogs who will thrive in your home. Once your application is reviewed, our Applicant Approval Coordinator will get in touch with you about scheduling a home visit with a SIRA volunteer in your area. After your home visit is completed and approved you will be able to meet available foster dogs! For questions about the adoption process please send an email adoptsirashibas@gmail.com. SIRA depends on foster families as a critical part of our operation. Foster homes help a newly rescued dog adjust to living in a home environment. They work with SIRA to address any medical needs that the dog may have (including spay/neuter) and nurture and socialize the dog to prepare him/her for adoption. Foster families have the right to adopt their foster dog and participate in the process of approving adoption matches. If you're interested in learning more about becoming a foster home, visit www.savingshibas.com/foster or email fostersirashibas@gmail.com.
