Moxie's Story

Meet Moxie - a shy but oh-so-special girl!
Moxie is a 2-year-old Hound mix (spayed, microchipped, vaccinated, and heartworm negative) who has captured the hearts of our staff. She may be reserved at first, but once she learns to trust you, her sweet and loyal personality begins to shine.

Moxie hasn't had the chance to truly learn what it means to be a beloved indoor dog. It would take quite the adjustment period as the shelter is what she is most used to. She has done well during overnight stays with volunteers and in temporary foster homes, and with patience and love, she will continue to blossom.

She is dog-friendly, though she prefers to soak up attention all to herself in a home setting, and she isnt totally comfortable in a crate when alone (may need some extra crate training). Moxie is most comfortable around women and has shown us she may be happiest as a loyal companion pet - perhaps even the perfect emotional support for a retired lady looking for a best friend.

While she isn't the right fit for a home with young children, she will give her whole heart to the person who gives her the time and security she needs. Moxie is a staff favorite for a reason - she's gentle, soulful, and so deserving of a place where she can finally be her true self.

If you're looking for a special dog to share a quiet, loving life with, Moxie may just be the one.
