Morris - COMING SOON!'s Story

This Lab is currently in a foster home, which is CILRA’s standard practice and allows us to learn more about the Lab before they are officially ready for adoption. It gives us time to evaluate the Lab’s personality, bring them up-to-date on vaccinations, and have them spayed/neutered if needed. If you are interested in this Lab, please keep checking the website for status updates or send an email of interest to cilralabs@yahoo.com.
* * * * * *
Meet Morris 🖤

Morris is a 2-year old black Lab with a story that’s just getting started. Named after the man who escaped Alcatraz, this boy has already made his own great escape—to a second chance at life.

At 90 lbs., Morris is a big, lovable goof who’s still figuring out how the good life works. Couches? Not sure those are for him yet. Dog beds? Obviously giant stuffies meant for shaking and playing. And play he does—he loves his toys, especially anything he can toss around and proudly parade.

Before arriving, Morris spent some time at his transporter’s home where he discovered something amazing: freedom. He ran and ran around the yard, soaking it all in like he couldn’t believe it was real.

He’s incredibly smart and already showing how trainable he is. On his first walk, he started out pulling, but with a simple “sit,” he could reset—and by halfway through, he was walking much more politely. He’s gentle taking treats, curious about everything, and eager to learn.

Morris has a lot of energy, a big heart, and a whole world to explore. Right now, he’s taking it all in—one sniff, one toy, and one new experience at a time. He's used to living with children (ages 6+), but TBD how he does with other dogs & cats.

More updates to come as we get to know this special boy 💛 He’s being fostered in Monticello, IL.
