Moose (Special Needs)'s Story
If you’re looking for a sweet companion, Moose can be that pal. This Special Needs boy loves being close to his person and doesn’t know he has a disability. He injured his back jumping off a sofa in the summer of 2022, but was not treated at that time. He has seen a neurologist who says surgery won’t repair his injury, but that he is not in pain. She said he is a “reflex walker,” meaning his hind quarters aren’t exactly coordinated with his front end, but he does have use of his back legs. He can go up and down some steps, but should not be allowed to tackle a full flight—a gate is essential. Due to his injury he is incontinent, a problem easily managed with male wraps when inside. Moose has learned to compensate, has good mobility and benefits from plenty of exercise. Moose loves car rides and enjoys back yard time, especially when his person is with him. He just wants to be where you are.

Moose is smart and very determined. He will accomplish whatever he wishes, but most of all he wants to be with his family. He is fine with other dogs, but calm ones are best. Moose is playful, likes going places and being busy with his family—he is not a couch potato. However he would prefer an adult only home with a family that can meet his needs. Moose is a real gem for the family lucky enough to share their life with him.
