Mookie needs a special someone's Story
Mookie is an almost 6 year old 105 lb. Newfoundland /poodle mix (Newfiepoo) currently living in Oakland, CA.

Mookie is a beautiful, regal (and sometimes goofy) looking dog. He likes to play with other dogs and go out on walks. He loves teenagers and energetic happy people. He absolutely adores eggs and cheese. He needs exercise daily but also sleeps a lot of the day. He’s had training and walks well on a leash although he can be reactive to scooters and bicycles.

The right owner/place for Mookie will be where there is/are very experienced, confident dog owners because Mookie has resource guarding issues and a bite history due to fear aggression, we think. Most of the time he is calm and eager to follow commands. He is super food motivated and eagerly awaits treats and rewards. He responds well to structure and consistency. We have worked in the past with a dog psychologist and trainers to help us manage his behavior. He tends to guard/police the areas he inhabits and, is usually calm and manageable now, but he can be moody. We manage his unpredictability by having him wear a muzzle for his waking hours.

Unfortunately, due to the untimely death two years ago of Mookie’s primary caretaker, we are looking to find a good stable home/place for Mookie for the long term. Mookie's ideal home would be with an experience dog trainer. A home as the only pet and without small children is recommended due to Mookie's guarding behavior.
