Moochita's Story
Meet Moochita! This little panda is one brave girl and as sweet as can be.

Her entire life changed in a single week. Moochita was surrendered when her owner became unhoused and she entered the shelter system already carrying a massive mammary tumor. She went straight into surgery for both the tumor removal and a spay, but that was only the beginning. She arrived to us dirty, painfully matted, obese, sore, confused, and sad - and with a large, jagged, bladder stone and severely inflamed bladder that had clearly been causing her significant pain.

Finally pain-free, Moochita's personality is shining as she thrives in her foster home. She LOVES yelling at and wrestling with squeaky toys, occasionally playing fetch when her energy bar loads past 12%, and dedicating herself to her core passions ~ napping, politely (and sometimes not politely) barking at foster mom for snacks, and being unbearably cute at all times.

Moochita is an absolute lovebug and wants to be near her people as much as possible. She snuggles. She falls into a deep, snoring sleep in any lap she can find. And if she can't find one of her foster moms at a given moment, she'll start in with a dramatic little howl - even if they're just in the next room! She is also deeply committed to trying to befriend one of the cats in her foster home. Any cat will do, but so far all of her applications have been denied. She remains hopeful. The cats remain unmoved, although one did let her nap "near" him.

Moochita loves food - a little too much, as evidenced by her obesity. She's on a strict diet to help her lose weight, as well as urinary food to help manage her bladder stones. Her forever family will need to continue supporting her (and cheering her on!) on her weight loss journey to get to healthy weight.

Moochita is a great passenger in the car, sleeps through the night, and navigates stairs like a pro. She's houstrained and will go to the door to let you know when she needs to go out - she's also happy to use pee pads. Moochita has some trouble seeing but doesn't let that slow her down. She's still learning the leash life, so she'd love a home with a fenced-in yard. Mainly, she's looking to join a family with humans who are home with her most of the time, love cuddling, and have at least one other dog (or cat!) for her to pal around with.

Whoever adopts this happy, loving goofball will be winning the rescue lottery - and the prize is a lifetime of joy, life, and laughter.

Moochita is booked and busy, but willing to make time in her schedule for meet and greets! Apply to meet our Moo Moo today.

Moochita is approximately 12 years old and 20 lbs.

Fostered in Winchester, VA
Please apply at MirisHaven.org
