Monty *NEW!*'s Story

Monty is a 2-year-old Maltipoo with a whole lot of heart packed into his petite 10-pound frame. He is non-shedding, recently neutered, and up to date on his vaccinations.

Loving, playful, and gentle with the people he knows, Monty enjoys the best of both worlds. He’s past the hyper puppy stage and has a lovely balance of playtime and downtime. He adores his toys and is happy entertaining himself, but he’s also a true snuggle bug who would much rather curl up in bed with his person than sleep alone in a crate.

Monty loves his walks, rides well in the car, and is doing well with house training when on a consistent routine. He gets along well with other dogs and would likely thrive with a confident, playful canine companion.

That said, Monty is fearful of unfamiliar people. When new people enter the home or he encounters strangers on walks, he can become very vocal and reactive. This behaviour comes from fear, not aggression, but it does mean Monty will need a patient, experienced adopter who is committed to helping him feel safe through positive reinforcement and gentle training.

Because of this, Monty is best suited to a detached home rather than an apartment or condo, and a quieter household without frequent visitors would be ideal.
Ideally, Monty is looking for a home with a fenced yard, another friendly dog, and humans who won’t leave him alone all day. In return, he offers deep loyalty, affectionate cuddles, and the kind of bond that comes from giving a fearful dog the chance to truly feel safe.

ADOPTION FEE: $875

—————————————

All applicants must be 25 yrs or older
Applicants must be within 3 hr driving distance from Hamilton ON, and reside in Canada
Please advise your vet and personal reference that we will be calling

Pomeranian and Small Breed Rescue is not a kennel facility, all of our dogs live in volunteers' homes.
