MONTE's Story
I came to the shelter with some serious skin issues. I'm a sweet, happy boy and I'm receiving good care from the medical team, but this will be a chronic issue for me that will need to be managed by my adopters. My medical care has been very expensive. If you'd like to help shelter pets (like me) with medical care, please consider donating to OCAS Community Giving Fund . Foster notes on Monte: Monte is a super sweet 3-year-old pup with a big heart, a goofy personality, and an endless capacity for love. He is fully house-trained and crate-trained. While he doesn’t love his crate, once he’s inside he’s quiet, calm, and well-behaved. Monte is a super sweet 3-year-old pup with a big heart, a goofy personality, and an endless capacity for love. He is fully house-trained and crate-trained. While he doesn’t love his crate, once he’s inside he’s quiet, calm, and well-behaved. Monte walks nicely on a leash and absolutely loves car rides. On walks, he’s unfazed by other people and dogs, though passing cars can make him a little nervous. He adores other dogs and can get very excited when meeting them. With slow introductions, he settles more quickly and responds well to gentle guidance as he continues working on his manners. At his core, Monte is just a really good soul. He leads with love and enthusiasm and sometimes doesn’t realize that not everyone (human or canine!) loves as hard as he does, which is part of what makes him so endearing. He’s a goofy, affectionate boy who truly just wants to love and be loved in return. There are a few health things to be aware of, but Monte is doing very well and improving every day. He has atopic dermatitis, a common, lifelong environmental allergy that can cause itchy skin and eye irritation. While it isn’t curable, it is very manageable, and Monte handles his care like an absolute champ. His routine includes regular medicated baths and an eye ointment applied twice daily and he’s incredibly easygoing and cooperative for all of it. Overall, Monte is a resilient, loving, and joyful dog who would thrive in a home willing to continue his simple care routine and spoil him with the love he so freely gives. He has so much love to offer and is ready to share it with his forever family. He’s just such a good soul — a little goofy, a little unaware, but all heart. Monte is a sweet, joyful pup who would love to meet his future family. If you’re looking for a dog who can be both your walking buddy and your couch-cuddling companion, Monte might just be your guy. Monte has been working through some skin issues, but he’s doing really well and everything is getting under control. With a simple routine of daily medication and weekly baths, he’s on the right track and otherwise a happy, healthy dog ready for his forever home. This sweet man has a great balance of energy and relaxation. He enjoys going for walks and hikes, but he also loves lounging on the couch for cuddles or relaxing on his bed nearby. Monte is a quiet gentleman who doesn’t bark much and does great passing other dogs and people while out on walks. When Monte first meets other pups he can get a little excited (who wouldn’t be?), but once that initial excitement passes, his easygoing and passive personality shines through. Monte is truly a loving, snuggly dog who is ready for a home where he can continue healing and be someone’s loyal best friend.
