Monster's Story
Monster ~ Possible St. Bernard/Rottie mix ~ Estimated DOB: 12/14/2024 (Approximately 14 months old)

I tell everyone that asks me about Monster that he is the life of the party. He just lives each day like it's the best day ever. Only prior to his arrival at the shelter, his life was not great at all....

I first met this little Monster back in October. A few months prior to my meeting him, when he was approximately 7-8 months old, he was seized out of a motel room in Massachusetts. That was the first time Monster was made to enter a shelter.

Monster was then returned back to his owner and he brought him to Central Falls, where Monster was living in an apartment with Bobby - a bulldog that is also up for adoption. This apartment was in deplorable condition. The dogs were alone for the majority of the time. They had nothing...no toys, no beds to sleep on, and worst of all, they weren't fed regularly. There was no food in the home the day that I seized them from the home.

Monster entered the shelter thin. We had to do small frequent meals in slow feeders. He was seized from the home in November and these days, as far as his weight goes, he's really beginning to fill out nicely. When he went to the vet for his neuter on 2/10/26, I gave it my best attempt to weigh Monster. Between all his dancing and bouncing, it's looking like he's now about 108 pounds, and he still has a bit of growing to do!

He was said to be 11 months old when he entered the shelter. Throughout his puppy-hood, he was made to live in a very unstable, chaotic environment. Somehow through it all this puppy was able to hold it all together. He's truly as sweet as they come. He craves love! He leans his whole body all the way into you to get as close as possible. He's as clumsy as ever, always tripping over his own big feet. He sure does have me wrapped around those big paws of his.
My worry is that he's already lost his puppy-hood through no fault of his own, I don't want him to lose anymore time behind bars. This month he is turning 14 months old. The clock is ticking as time passes him by. As of today, applications can be submitted for adoption.

Monster CANNOT be with cats or small dogs. He is NOT aggressive in the least but he doesn't know his own strength. He would do great with a large dog that is dog social and easy going. Also, due to his size, older human siblings are preferred.

If you would like to apply for Monster, you can do so online at Pawtucketanimalshelter.com, or you can apply at the shelter in person.
