Monkey's Story

Monkey was found by a lady in late October. He stayed on that ladies porch for 2 days (and nights) using their welcome mat as his bed.

The great:

-Young but fully grown dog, I would say somewhere around 1-2 years old
-Eats well and is pretty easy to keep weight on (right about 50 lbs right now)
-Plays well with every dog he’s ever met (puppies, danes, old little dogs, whatever!)
-Just happy to be included. Wants to please, VERY food motivated.
-Great for bath time and rather easy to clip nails.
-Awesome in the car
-Neutered and fully up to date on all shots including rabies, distemper, lepto, lyme, bordetella. The one thing I don’t think he got was the canine influenza vaccines. Just got a new seresto collar on that’s good for 8 months of flea and tick protection and he has 5 months left of heartguard+ that protects him from heartworm, hookworms and roundworms.

The not so great:
-Does not love the crate and will try his hardest to break out of a normal wire crate. He does settle eventually but he would rather be with his people. I think with some more mental and physical exercise he would be great in a kennel I’m just not the right home for that.
-Will climb a baby gate and chew a long line to get to you just because he wants to be under your feet.
-Does get overly excited and jumps up on people more than I would like although he’s improving.
-Will sometimes hump other dogs out of excitement. He listens to corrections though.
-His tail and possibly spine are a bit deformed. It doesn’t seem to affect him at all.
