Momma Cita (URGENT)'s Story

Meet Mamacita!
This gorgeous girl has been waiting far too long to find her forever home and would love nothing more than to ring in the holidays with a family of her own. She’s estimated to be around 2½ years old, weighs about 50 lbs, and is the perfect medium size. Without a DNA test, we can’t confirm her breed, but based on her appearance, we believe she may be a German Shepherd mix.

Mamacita’s story is one of love and resilience. She was found as a stray at one of her most vulnerable moments—caring for seven newborn puppies all on her own. She entered the shelter in August and proved to be an incredible, nurturing mom. Each of her pups has since been adopted, but Mamacita is still waiting for her turn.

Shelter staff describe her as a gentle, affectionate, and loyal companion. She loves being around people, enjoys giving her paw, and radiates sweetness in everything she does. After spending so much time in a shelter environment, she’ll need a patient, understanding adopter to help her adjust and decompress as she transitions into a loving home.

Mamacita would thrive with an adopter who can guide her through the basics—like house training and learning commands—and help her gain confidence in a home setting. She has had limited exposure to children, but based on her gentle nature, she would likely do well with respectful kids given slow, supervised introductions. She enjoys the company of other dogs but is equally content being the center of attention. She hasn’t been cat-tested, so a cat-free home may be best.

Her energy level is moderate—she’s happy to join you for walks or adventures but is just as content to relax by your side. We’d love for her to have a fenced yard, though apartments or condos will be considered on a case-by-case basis for the right match.

Shelters in Texas are overcrowded, and dogs like Mamacita are at risk simply because there aren’t enough homes. She deserves so much more than a kennel—she deserves love, stability, and a lifetime of belly rubs and companionship.

Health:
Mamacita is spayed, microchipped, heartworm negative, and up-to-date on vaccines and monthly preventatives.

Adoption Requirements:
• Yard preferred (apartments/condos considered case by case)

Transport Information:
All of our dogs, including Mamacita, are currently located in Texas and will travel once an adoption is finalized. Transport is included in the adoption fee. Breed labels are educated guesses—we encourage adopters to focus on Mamacita’s personality, needs, and long-term compatibility rather than her breed mix.

MA License #479
