🐾 Meet Molson 🐾.<br/><br/>Molson is a 5-month-old German Shepherd x Border Collie mix (best guess!) with a bright mind and an even brighter spirit.<br/>Recently returned to us after being diagnosed with Neospora, a parasite that has affected one of his hind legs, Molson is currently on a long-term treatment plan. While we’re hopeful for continued improvement, there is a possibility that amputation may be necessary in 2–3 months if his leg does not respond as we hope.<br/><br/>But here’s what really matters…<br/>You would barely know anything is wrong.<br/>Molson is happy. Playful. Engaged. Curious. He has that busy, brilliant working-dog brain that wants to learn, problem-solve, and be part of the action. He doesn’t need to live like a medical case — he needs to live like a puppy.<br/>He’s good with other dogs, full of energy, incredibly intelligent, and will absolutely thrive with someone who enjoys working breeds and understands how to channel that smart, active brain.<br/><br/>🏡 What Molson Needs<br/>Because Molson may require future medical treatment or surgery, we are looking for:<br/>• A committed adoptive home within reasonable driving distance of St. Thomas, Ontario (all ongoing Neospora-related care will take place with our veterinary partners there to ensure continuity of care)<br/>• A family with children old enough to be calm and respectful during recovery periods (ideally 8–10 years and up)<br/>• Someone who can provide structure, training, enrichment, and confidence-building<br/>• A home prepared to manage his activity appropriately while he heals<br/>This is a slow and steady journey — but you will not be doing it alone.<br/>If Molson requires continued care related to Neospora, those costs remain with us. Myrtle Animal Rescue and Sanctuary's Adoption Policy
Application Process: All prospective adopters must complete an adoption application, providing detailed information about their household, lifestyle, and experience with pets. Applications will be reviewed to ensure the adopter and the animal are a good match. Home Visit: A home visit may be required to verify the environment is safe and suitable for the animal. Meet-and-Greet: Approved applicants will be invited to meet the animal in person. If applicable, other household members and pets should also participate in this introduction. Adoption Fees: Adoption fees are required to help cover medical and care expenses. These fees are non-refundable and vary depending on the animal's age and medical history. Spay/Neuter Policy: All animals will be spayed or neutered before adoption. Exceptions will only be made for medical reasons, with a binding agreement to spay or neuter later. Health and Vaccination: All animals will be up-to-date on vaccinations, microchipped, and cleared by a veterinarian before adoption. Contract: Adopters must sign an adoption agreement, committing to the responsible care of the animal. This includes providing proper shelter, nutrition, medical care, and companionship. Return Policy: If the adopter can no longer care for the animal, the animal must be returned to the rescue. Rehoming the animal independently is not allowed without the organization’s consent. Follow-Up: The rescue may conduct follow-up visits or check-ins to ensure the animal is settling into its new home successfully.
