Molly's Story

Molly is a spayed female pit bull, 2-years-old, and about 55 lbs.

Wisdom panel DNA results: 57% American Pit Bull Terrier, 39% American Staffordshire Terrier, 2% Bulldog, 1% Boston Terrier, 1% American Bulldog. She's all muscle, has kind of short legs, a big head, and a big heart.

Molly was an owner surrender from CT. Her owners adore her but despite a lot of training and effort, she wasn't getting along with the older dog in her home. Molly has some BIG feelings about other dogs, and has a high prey drive, so needs to be the only pet in the home. No dogs, cats, or small animals. She's still working on her reactivity and she is muzzle trained.

Molly is very friendly and good with people, including strangers and the vet, is tolerant of handling, isn't destructive, is crate trained, and 100% potty trained! She is tolerant of grooming wipes and baths, and with a peanut butter lick mat, is fine for nail clipping.

She received professional training before coming into our rescue and knows several cues like sit, down, stay, place, drop it, heel, kennel, wait, leave it, here, etc. She'a also completed several classes of a Reactive Rovers training class. She has not shown any signs of resource guarding toys or treats with us.

This girl is super athletic!! Muscular, fast, agile, confident, not afraid to get muddy, and very treat and toy driven. She would love a big, private, fenced-in yard to hang out with you in, run, play, and maybe even a chance to learn more skills on agility equipment. I think she would be a great candidate for dog sports (like wall climb!) at private training facilities (her reactivity would prevent her from going to crowded official events/competitions right now).

Molly's looking for an experienced adopter who can continue working on her dog reactivity, and provide a stable routine for her. She thrives on routine, and her reactivity improves with routine. Her ideal home would be in a quieter area with not many dogs being walked by the home. And huge bonus if you have land with areas to walk her on (on leash). Molly requires a home visit as part of her adoption requirements, as we want to make extra sure that she's being set up for success in her new home.

She'll go home with a large Ruffland kennel, kennel pad, raised cot (her "place"), fluffy bed, muzzle, collar, leash, harness, tons of toys, slow feeder dish, and more!

Thanks to Petfinder Foundation's Kia Pet Adoption Grant, Molly's adoption fee is fully sponsored!

If you have any questions at all, please feel free to email us at info@jezziesplace.com.

Jezzie's Place Rescue's Adoption Policy
Our adoption process is dynamic and is focused solely on meeting the needs of the dogs in our care and placing them with the best adopters possible. This may mean multiple meet and greets with humans and/or other dogs, home visit, a short trial period at the new home, special requirements, etc. depending on the dog's needs. We do NOT operate on a first-come first-serve basis, which means we match adopters based on the needs and temperament of the dog, and not who submitted their application first. Please understand that it is not guaranteed that you will be able to adopt a specific dog you’re interested in. What you can expect from the typical adoption process: * Submit an adoption application * After we receive your application, we’ll contact you by email within 2 days * Phone call chat with a rescue team member * Rescue will check veterinary references * Rescue will check landlord reference (if applicable) * In-person visit at Jezzie's Place with rescue dog, everyone who lives in the home, and any other dog(s) that live in the home * Any extra steps needed for the dog’s success and well-being * If all goes well, we schedule a time for you to bring your new dog home (we typically do not do same day adoptions) * Sign adoption contract and pay adoption fee * Welcome your new family member home! When you adopt from Jezzie’s Place, you also receive: * A thorough description of everything we know about your dog: likes, dislikes, fears, favorite toys, play style, quirks, any evals with other animals, etc. * Any medical history we have on your dog: health certificates, exams, vaccine history, surgeries, imaging, treatments, prescriptions, etc. * Small amount of dry food to help transition your dog to whatever food you choose to feed once home (we can offer recommendations if you would like) * Collar * Leash * Continued support and guidance throughout your dog’s life! Support & Guidance Beyond Adoption: We remain committed to our rescue dogs and their adoptive families throughout the dog’s entire life. If there are any problems or concerns with their health or well-being, we are here to help. Adopters can always ask us for advice or guidance! If for any reason during your dog’s life you are unable to keep your dog, you must return your dog to Jezzie’s Place Rescue.
