Mocha's Story

Mocha – 8-Year-Old Female Chocolate Lab, Spayed, 95 Pounds

Background:
Mocha's human dad recently passed away. Over the past four years, while he had caretakers coming into his home to care for him, they didn't do much for Mocha besides feed her. She has skin allergies that require medication and since none of that was applied, she has spots of missing fur from itching and scratching. The adult children came to stay with their dad and Mocha. After their dad passed, they reached out to Lab Rescue.

What Mocha's Foster Says:
Mocha is a dog filled with love. She has never growled and only barked a little. Her favorite thing in life is walking about a mile to start each day. She loves a routine, yet it changes on a dime when she hears a loud noise. She gets scared and becomes timid. Mocha is on a limited ingredient diet to help identify any food allergy and lose weight. Once she gets in the car, she immediately settles and enjoys the ride. She is crate trained and loves sleeping the night away there. Her main characteristics are love and low energy. You won’t find her playing with dog toys, but if there is another dog around she is in heaven. She has never met a dog she hasn’t liked.

What Lab Rescue Says:
Upon first meeting Mocha, she barked at us and backed away, but within seconds, with a treat, she took it gently and became our best friend. We took her on a walk in her quiet residential neighborhood; she initially was reluctant to come with us and continued to look back at the home she's known all of her life. She pulled a bit on the walk, but nothing unmanageable with someone who is steady on their feet. She has several patches of missing fur, and the adult children said she has allergies which are maintained with medication that hadn't been given over the last few years. Mocha is a sweet and gentle lady. We’re looking for a forever home where Mocha will be treated as a cherished member of the family and receive the continued attention and care she needs. Mocha is timid and sensitive to noise and will benefit from a quieter home. While she likes children, their energetic activity might be a bit overwhelming for her. She would love the company of a confident dog sibling (or dogs) to help her find her brave side. She is housetrained.

Medical:
Mocha is spayed and vaccinated for Rabies. We will be getting her in for a general exam soon, to include an updated heartworm test, possible DHPP and have her skin checked.

Mocha is located in Cupertino

If you are interested in adopting Mocha please contact Rescue Rep Kris at krisellen.nm@gmail.com

In your email, please tell me about yourself and why you would be a good fit for Mocha.
