Mo's Story

Mo does not wait for an invitation. Find a spot on the floor and she walks right over, climbs into your lap, and tips her head back against you to look up at your face.

Mo is an eight year old brindle pit mix, about 40 pounds, with a white chest and white toes. She came to us as an owner surrender, so we know a good deal about the life she had before. She lived indoors and slept in the bedroom with her person. She is house trained, crate trained, spayed, and knows her basic commands.

Her family described her as sweet and a cuddler, and that is exactly who she has been here. Her energy is on the low side, and she is happiest settled in close to whoever she is with. Her family also tells us she is good with kids and good with other dogs.

A few honest things before you apply. Mo needs a home without cats, chickens, or other small animals.

We prefer to schedule appointments for meet and greets to make sure someone is available to spend time with you. The shelter is open Monday through Friday, 12pm to 4pm, and appointments outside of those hours may be available based on volunteer availability. Petersburg Animal Care & Control's Adoption Policy
Thank you for your interest in adopting from Petersburg Animal Care & Control! We’re so glad you’re considering giving a shelter pet a loving home. We do not charge an adoption fee; however, all animals must be spayed or neutered prior to adoption, and the cost of the procedure is covered by the adopter. We’re happy to support adopters by coordinating appointments with our low-cost veterinary partners for spay/neuter services and other basic care needs. Adoption Process • We prefer to schedule appointments for meet-and-greets to ensure that staff or volunteers are available to spend adequate time helping you get to know the animal. • When you arrive, please sign in and wait to be escorted by a staff member or volunteer before entering the kennel areas. • For safety reasons, please do not reach into kennels or attempt to touch animals through barriers. If you’re interested in a particular pet, our team will bring them to a meet-and-greet area for proper introductions. • After your visit, you’re welcome to submit an adoption application. Applications must be approved before we can schedule a meet-and-greet with your family pets. • Meet-and-greets with personal pets are by appointment only, and for safety, two staff members must be present to handle all animals involved. We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work to make each match the best fit possible — both for our animals and their future families.
