Mitzi's Story

Name: Mitzi
Age: Approx 2 yrs old
Breed: Husky mix
Weight: 28kg

Mitzi is a two-year-old mixed breed who came to us alongside her two puppies. Her puppies have since found their forever homes, and now it's Mitzi's turn to find a family of her own.

Mitzi is an affectionate, fun-loving, goofy girl with an enthusiastic spirit. When she has the right outlets for her energy, she has a lovely demeanour and is sure to keep life interesting. She has a deep love for toys, especially tug-of-war and fetch, and she is happiest when she has something fun to do.

Mitzi is currently working on her basic manners, including remaining neutral around distractions and learning how to redirect her excitement into appropriate outlets. When she gets very excited, she can become mouthy with her handler in a playful way. She doesn't always know what to do with all that enthusiasm yet, so she will need a home that can provide consistent structure, training, and appropriate outlets for her energy, as well as help her learn how to settle and have an "off switch" when playtime is over.

Because of her current mouthiness when excited, Mitzi would not be a suitable match for a home with young children at this time. With continued training and guidance, we expect her to make wonderful progress!

Mitzi loves making new friends and has shown us that she can enjoy spending time with other dogs. She can get especially excited when she spots another dog while out on a walk, so she is continuing to work on staying calm and focused when greeting from a distance. With her playful personality and love of fun, she has already made several dog friends during her time with us and we think she'll continue to thrive with positive experiences and guidance.

Mitzi has so much personality, plenty of love to give, and a whole lot of fun waiting to happen. She's ready for someone who will help her channel that enthusiasm, teach her how to settle, and show her just how great life can be outside the shelter.
