Misty's Story

Misty is a soft, sweet girl who moves through life with quiet caution. New people and new places can feel a little overwhelming for her, so she takes her time, watching from a safe spot until she feels brave enough to come closer. But once she realizes she's safe, you see her true self — the gentle tail taps, the soft eyes, the way she leans in just a little more each day.

She's still learning that people can be kind and that hands can bring comfort, not worry. Every bit of progress she makes is meaningful: the first sniff of your hand, the first time she chooses to sit beside you, the first moment she relaxes enough to enjoy affection. Misty blossoms with patience, predictability, and someone who understands that trust is built slowly and beautifully.

Misty will thrive in a calm home that celebrates small victories and lets her set the pace. If you're someone who finds joy in helping a shy dog feel safe, loved, and understood, Misty is ready to begin that journey with you.

Misty is available for foster to adopt, direct adoption, or transfer to a trusted partner. If interested, contact us at 218-681-8045.

Pennington County Humane Society's Adoption Policy
Pet Adoption The Pennington County Humane Society animal shelter is licensed by the Minnesota Department of Animal Health (license # MN139638) for up to 27 dogs/puppies & up to 60 cats/kittens. The shelter is often filled to the maximum allowed by the license. While we try to keep the available animals listed online, we may have new intakes – so if you don’t see what you want, please call us. To adopt from Pennington County Humane Society, you must be over 21 or over 18 years old with a co-signer. You must own the home where you are living or have a signed statement from your landlord permitting you to have a pet in a leased or rented home Cats must be kept indoors in city limits unless leashed and accompanied by a responsible adult. Many mobile home parks have their own rules (such as size restrictions), so please check with the park manager before attempting to adopt. Many cities have pet ordinances that must be followed. These include proper vaccinations and licensing. Some communities may restrict the number of pets allowed in each household. Be sure to check your local ordinances before attempting to adopt. All adoptions must be done by the person the pet will be living with most of the time. We do not allow pets to be adopted as gifts for other people. You may, however, pay the adoption fee for a pet, and we will provide a “gift certificate,” which allows the recipient to adopt without additional cost. To adopt, the recipient must meet the guidelines listed above. Adoption fees are non-refundable.
