Adopted<br/><br/>Mistletoe is the sweetest little soul who wants nothing more than to cuddle up with her people and shower them with love. <br/>Despite everything she’s been through, she loves with her whole heart. She just wants to belong.<br/>This girl is very food motivated and will happily sit at your feet while you cook, just in case a tasty morsel happens to hit the floor. Dinner time and treats are some of her favorite things!<br/>Mistletoe gets along well with other dogs after a slow and proper introduction. She would thrive as a cherished companion in a patient, loving home.<br/>She understands the concept of going potty outside and, with consistent access to a yard or regular walks, she’ll continue to build confidence and routine quickly. One thing she does not enjoy is being in a crate, after spending most of her life confined and used for breeding, she’s more than ready to leave that behind.<br/>Mistletoe would do best with someone who is home often, <br/>a work-from-home human, a retiree, or someone with a flexible schedule to help her continue adjusting to the world and all the kindness it has to offer.<br/>When she came to us, her intake notes told a story of neglect:<br/>* Growths on both hind legs<br/>* Wear on her right chest, likely from a tight harness<br/>* Degloving her lower jaw<br/>* Teeth ground down<br/>* Overgrown, curled nails<br/><br/>Mistletoe needs a little grace and a little patience as she learns that the world can be soft and safe.<br/><br/>What she deserves now is a cozy couch, gentle hands, and a family who will love her as deeply as she loves them. Adopters must be at least 21 years old All pets in home must be current on vaccinations, spayed/neutered, and on routine preventatives (heartworm, flea & tick preventatives) A meet and greet between existing dog(s) in the home and Friends of SCAC Rescue dog is required Friends of SCAC requires a home visit prior to approval of adoption Children in prospective adoptive homes should be at least eight years old. Friends of SCAC adopts dogs out to residents of Sangamon County (in Central Illinois) and the counties bordering Sangamon County Friends of SCAC reserves the right to decline applicants at any point in the adoption process We pre-screen and process all applications as a first step, so if you are interested in meeting one of our pets, please fill out an adoption application. If we believe that your family would be a good match for the pet (and that the pet would be a good match for your family!) we will reach out to you to arrange a meet and greet. Friends of SCAC is a small, all-volunteer non-profit organization. Please be patient as we work through applications. Please allow about a week for processing applications.
