Meet Misti!<br/><br/>Misti is a 3-year-old, 45-lb retriever-type mix whose journey all the way from the Bahamas has already shown just how special she is. When she first arrived, we expected a shy, underweight dog-but Misti surprised us all. Thanks to great care along the way, she's healthy, smart, friendly, and incredibly athletic.<br/><br/>This girl is a quick study. She learned "paw" in just three tries and clearly already understood commands like sit and down. Since then, Misti has completed intensive obedience training at a professional boarding facility and has truly blossomed. She's confident, social, and very people-friendly, happily welcoming guests and enjoying attention from everyone she meets.<br/><br/>Misti has mastered an impressive list of skills, including sit, down, place, heel, recall, and polite door manners. She thrives with structure, activity, and engagement, and she absolutely loves fetch, tug, walks, hikes, and interactive play. Be sure to check out her video to see her athleticism and enthusiasm in action!<br/><br/>Because Misti is such an energetic and exuberant girl, she would do best in an active home that can continue providing consistency, exercise, and structure. While she is extremely friendly, her playful style can be a bit much for very young children, so we think she would be best suited for homes with older kids and teens (16+).<br/><br/>Misti has a very high prey drive, so we are looking for a home without cats or small dogs. She has done well with other dogs and would likely enjoy a playful male canine companion.<br/><br/>She is currently in a foster home with a professional trainer, where she continues working on house manners and polishing her impressive training foundation.
