Missy Zelda (FL)'s Story
Adoption fee - $300

Missy Zelda is available for adoption, she is 9 years old and weighs about 9 pounds. She is in Gainesville Florida.

Missy Zelda was an owner surrender, her family was no longer able to take care of her. She came to us in rough shape, but she is better now and ready for the right family to adopt her. She is safe and very much loved in her foster home.

Missy Zelda does have some long term health issues: she was diagnosed with pancreatitis (Pancreatitis in dogs is the inflammation of the pancreas, causing abdominal pain, vomiting, diarrhea, and lethargy, often triggered by high-fat foods or table scraps. It can be acute (sudden) or chronic, requiring prompt veterinary care for fluid therapy, pain management, and nutritional support to avoid severe dehydration or organ damage.) she is stable now, but we have no way of knowing if she will relapse and have a flareup. A flareup could mean medicines, and possibly hospital care.

She also has bad knees (luxating patellas). She can be seen occasionally favoring her left back leg, but it does not seem to bother her right now. And sadly, when she had her dental, she lost the 9 teeth she had, so she now has no teeth, but she is fine eating soft food. Because of her age we are not looking not surgery for her knees.

Because she has no teeth, her tongue hangs out of her mouth, and because of that, she has a stained look on the right side of her nose. And she licks her feet, so they are stained as well. This is an ongoing issue with her, so it is likely that it will always be that way.

Also, as yucky as it sounds, she will eat her poop, it can be hard to catch her, but we try the best we can. There is no "cure" for this nasty habit; there are a lot of home remedies, but the only thing that helps, is to catch her as soon as she potty's, it is unknown why some dogs do this, there is a lot of speculation, but no real answer.

And, she is working on her house manners, she WILL have accidents inside the home, she was not trained by her previous owners, so she has a lifetime of doing what she wants.

We have seen, that it will take several weeks to adjust to a new home, if you feel Missy Zelda would be a good fit for your family, knowing her health issues and her lack of potty training, please fill out the online adoption application.

Adoption fee: $300.00
