Missy's Story

Meet Missy, a gentle five year old girl who needs help now more than ever. ?

Missy has been with us for several weeks with no sign of her previous owner, which surprises everyone who meets her. She is incredibly sweet, affectionate, and easy to love. She gets along well with other dogs and has the softest way of leaning into you as if she is saying thank you for the attention.

Missy is in a tough spot. She is heartworm positive and she has a mammary tumor about the size of a golf ball that will need to be removed for her comfort and long term health. This is a surgery our shelter cannot provide due to our limited medical budget. With the shelter currently full, our ability to advocate for her is limited and Missy is facing euthanasia if a committed adopter or rescue partner is not found soon.

We know we are asking for a lot. Missy needs someone who is willing to take on her heartworm treatment and help her get the tumor removed, but she truly needs this care to have a chance at the life she deserves.

She is not a senior, but she is past the chaotic puppy stage and would make a calm, loving companion for someone willing to give her a second chance. Missy deserves comfort, safety, and a family who sees her worth.

If you can adopt Missy or if you are connected with a rescue who can step in, please reach out or visit us as soon as possible. Missy has so much love left to give and she needs someone to choose her while there is still time. ???

Missy weighs 63 pounds at five years old. She has been vaccinated, treated for internal/external parasites and has tested positive for heartworm disease at the shelter.

Located at the Brownsville Haywood County Animal Shelter in Brownsville, Tennessee. The adoption fee is $75. We have no pull fee and can help arrange transport for local 501c3 rescue groups. If interested in this dog please call 731-772-2908, we would love to hear from you! Please share this dog to help them find their forever home.

In order to adopt a pet from us, you must fill out an adoption application for the animal you are interested in, and be approved. Once you are approved, you will be allowed to come visit the animal you are interested in, and make a decision. All animals are required to be spayed/nuetered upon adoption. NO exceptions. We usually allow adopters to take animals home the same day as their meet and greet, but will not hold any animals for potential adopters unless their fee has already been paid.
