Missy's Story

Hi, I’m Missy

I’m 3-years young and 25.5kg (56lbs)! I'm super fun, bouncy, and very smart — I know sit, down, stay, and paw (I happily accept payment in treats!). I love learning, and once I trust you, my goofy, happy personality really shines.

I can be nervous with new people and new environments. When I’m unsure, I might growl, shake, or try to create some space. I’m not trying to be tough — I’m just sensitive and still learning that the world is safe. With patience, calm handling, and structure, I build strong bonds and become much more relaxed.

I get along well with other dogs and have lived peacefully with one before, but slow, calm introductions are best. Because I can get overwhelmed, I’d do best in a home with older teens (16+) who understand boundaries.

I’m also a bit of an adventurer… which means I’m a big flight risk. If I get scared or feel too much leash pressure, my brain says “let’s go!” I need a secure yard, careful door management, and humans committed to keeping me safe. On walks, I’m strong and very aware of everything around me. I’m not reactive — just cautious — and I feel safest with calm, confident handling.

Because of my flight risk and sensitivity in new situations, the team at GTHS has placed me in their Underdog Program. That means my adoption fee is reduced and I come with lots of extra support to help me and my new family succeed.

What I need most is a structured, experienced, and patient home to help me keep building confidence. In return, you’ll get a loyal, clever, bouncy best friend who just wants a safe place in the world.

My underdog adoption fee is $100 and includes my spay/neuter, up to date vaccinations, dewormer and a microchip. If you want to learn more about me, please come visit the GTHS and speak with one of the amazing Adoption Counsellors! The GTHS is open for adoptions from 12pm-4:00pm, every single day of the week and they would be thrilled to introduce you to me! I can't wait to meet you and am looking forward to starting my new life with my new family!

Bouncy Tail Wags

Missy
