Missy's Story

Missy came to us from a local animal shelter partner who could not care for her medical needs. “I’m not sure she has a chance here…” they told us before bringing her to BCAR. Since bringing Missy to BCAR, she has been diagnosed with and is being treated for Cushing Disease and a thyroid disorder. Both are managed with daily medications. She has also gone from weighing just over 100 pounds to a healthy weight of around 50 pounds while in our care! She loves a good walk and has great manners on her leash. She is very calm and enjoys snoozing in the sunshine after her morning walk.

Missy will be classified as a medical foster/adoption meaning BCAR will continue to be financially responsible for her medical care. At 5 years old, our hope is to find Missy a loving and compassionate person to care for her and get her out of the shelter. She would love a fenced yard and if it had access with a doggie door, all the better. BCAR can provide extra help with transitioning this sweet girl from life in the shelter to life in a home. She will do best as an only pet.

Missy is very sweet with people but needs to be the only pet in the family and does not care for dog parks.
